A "weasel" word carrying very different meanings from "far-fetched stories about pagan gods" to "the words which traditionally accompany a ritual action". In common use "fictitious story or legend" is a very frequent understanding, but theology "myth" is frequently used to mean "a story which encapsulates fundamental spiritual truth (e.g. about creation or salvation)".
